Turbión - Second full-length album entitled "Ritual de Fuego"
released on November 23, 2023

"...our idea in proposing music, is to make heavy metal that we like to listen to, basically make and play the kind of music we would like to listen to in a meeting with friends, a barbecue with lots of beers, having a good time.
We are driven to think and write about those moments when we get serious, remember anecdotes or just listen and sing along to the music that brings us together with a glass in our hand and a good friend in front of us.
We want playing our music to be fun, to have a good time and to be enjoyed among friends...." - Turbión

Album Review:

"Ritual de Fuego" is an 8-track album full of classic heavy metal/stoner music.

As a whole we hear heavy guitars with nice changes in rhythm, catchy riffs, amazing guitar solos with lots of turns and cuts, a bass that keeps the overall composition together and the drums in perfect sync adding intensity and dynamics to the composition without stealing the show. An exception is the last and shorter track "Jenecheblues", which is structured in a pleasant rock n' roll rhythm and is aesthetically perfect for an album finale.

However, two songs stand out on this album, with the firts one being "Sueno Lucido" which is a rich composition with a stoner rhythm, great melody, many changes in tempo intensity, great guitar solos, great turns and cuts on the musical climax and great performance by the singer, and the second one being "Lagrimas de sangre" which is the gem of the album, with heavy melodic guitar in a power metal rhythm at first slower than usual and then a power explosion of vocals and music with a turn to a stoner rhythm, great guitar solo with turns and cuts combined with heavy guitar and fast drums. A wonderful melodramatic composition, masterfully tied in a power/stoner rhythm, which I would dare to describe as a ballad.

"Ritual de Fuego" is an album that all metal music fans will appreciate.

Excellent! 9.5/10

Short bio:

Turbión is a metal band from the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra - Bolivia, born in 2018, with the meeting of musicians from diferent bands in the city, with the fixed idea of playing heavy metal, with the influence of different styles such as groove metal, stoner metal and classic Argentine heavy metal bands.

After 2 years of rehearsals and some live performances, they managed to release their first album "Turbión" through the independent label Oxido Metal Records in 2021. In 2023, the band released “Ritual de Fuego”, their second full length album with their characteristic sound and power.

Currently it is considered an important band in the metal scene in Bolivia for its excellent musical production and its honest and forceful live performance.

The band has been invited to open the shows for important artists worldwide and in Latin America (Ripper Owens, Fabio Lione, Crypta, Cabral, etc.), as well as participating in numerous festivals and shows.

I asked for some extra information and Turbión responded:

"We started with the idea and rehearsals in 2017, but it was until 2018 that we got together with original line up, and started composing what later became our first album.
Its funny, we originally wanted to start with an stoner metal band, with the influences of Down, Crowbar, but what really came out was more like a combination of groove metal, with latin american heavy/thrash bandas, especially argentinean bandas like Hermetica, Malon, Horcas and V8. obyouslly, we have been influenced by Pantera, Corrosion of
conformity, Texas Hippie Coalition, Bobaflex, etc.
We want to make lyrics about our real world and experiences, make tribute to the good time with friends, crazy stories in the night, and everything familiar about living in our city, Santa Cruz de la sierra, Bolivia.
We have player a lot in the underground scene in Bolivia, and shared stage as open act to Ripper Owens, Fabio Lione, Cabral, Tano Romano, and soon we will be opening the show of Jeff Scot Soto in our city".
