Album Review:

In the 6 tracks of their self-titled debut album, Zombie Hunger plays out a horror story with a beginning, middle and end. Starting with the intro "Rise From Your Graves", which is a wonderfully creepy theme song for a horror movie, they go on to fill the story with "Zombie Children", "Mask of Satan", "They Multiply" and "Coming For You ", which are classic doom metal compositions with the only slight variation being "Coming For You", which includes stoner elements.

The last track of the album "Death Without Rest" is the finale of the horror story, a heavy, slow, mournful composition of pure, classic doom metal, like a long funeral procession. The vocals, throughout the album are creepy as if coming out of the crypt, theatrically telling the horror story.

Zombie Hunger's debut album wants to swallow you whole in its classic old school doom rhythm. Ideal for lovers of classic doom metal and horror movies.

Frighteningly exciting! 8.5/10

Short bio

The ZOMBIE HUNGER disease has begun with founding members Patient Zero and Coffin Queen on Friday August 13, 2021. Soon after, Graveborn, Wormfeast and Skineater were introduced to the horde, but the low availability of brains during Covid forced them to lay low and they wait… But when the streets and music venues filled up again, they were finally unleashed!

Since 2022 they have played many gigs across Melbourne, including two appearances at the DOOM IN JUNE festival and the upcoming SUNBURN FESTIVAL in Canberra. From the beginning they made a name for themselves for delivering fun, demonic and high energy shows.

Their music is inspired by classic horror films and literature, and all the greats of metal and doom, including Black Sabbath, Candlemass, Pentagram, Saint Vitus, Trouble and Reverend Bizarre.

The debut album "ZOMBIE HUNGER" is available for purchase on Bandcamp, along with all the usual streaming places. A limited edition cd will also be sold on Bandcamp for maniacs fellow physical media geeks!
