ALIGN THE TIDE Unleash New Single and Video Clip “A MURDER OF CROWS”
Malta’s Align the Tide return with “A Murder of Crows”, a new single that continues the band’s evolution into a darker, heavier and increasingly distinctive modern metal sound. Hailing from Mellieħa, Malta, Align the Tide have spent nearly a decade developing a sound built on heavy modern metal, technical guitar work, atmosphere and an uncompromising live energy.
Formed in September 2015, the quintet have built an international résumé that includes performances across America and Europe, appearances on Malta’s festival circuit, and support slots for major acts including Mushroomhead and Suicide Silence.
Following their previous single “JINN”, Align the Tide continue their current run of releases with “A Murder of Crows”. The new track presents another side of the band’s songwriting, placing atmosphere and identity alongside the weight and intensity that have become central to their sound.
DARKER, HEAVIER, MORE ATMOSPHERIC
“A Murder of Crows” takes its name from the collective term for a group of crows, an image that carries an unmistakably dark and ominous character. That imagery is reflected in the single’s overall presentation, creating a visual and musical identity that feels unsettling without relying on traditional metal clichés.
Rather than simply pushing for maximum heaviness, the track is designed around contrast balancing aggression with atmosphere and giving the song room to breathe before returning to its heavier moments. It represents another step in Align the Tide’s ongoing effort to make technically demanding music feel immediate and memorable.
A CONTINUING EVOLUTION
The release follows a period of renewed activity for Align the Tide. The band has continued to develop its identity through new material and live performances while building on a catalogue that includes their Cleopatra Records releases Dead Religion (2019) and Hollow (2022).
Their strength has always come from the different perspectives within the line-up. Instead of forcing the band into a single stylistic box, those contrasting influences allow Align the Tide to move between modern metal, technical passages, darker atmospheres and more direct songwriting while maintaining a recognisable identity.
